The South-East Europe Territorial Cooperation Programme (SUDOE) supports regional development through ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) co-financing of transnational projects.
Public authorities in the Spanish, French, Portuguese and British (Gibraltar) regions can contribute to the growth and sustainable development of this South-East European area by developing transnational cooperation projects in fields related to innovation, the environment, new information technology and sustainable urban development.
Through their joint efforts, these regional actors contribute to South-East European support for European Union strategies in the fields of economic growth, employment and sustainable development. Transnational cooperation began in the South-East European area with the INTERREG III B SUDOE Community initiative. Within the context of the Objectives of European Regional Policy, the Territorial Cooperation Programme INTERREG IV B SUDOE is the direct successor of the INTERREG III B SUDOE Programme.
This new generation SUDOE programme has been prepared by four member States (Spain, France, Portugal and Gibraltar-United Kingdom) and is therefore an objective of European Territorial Cooperation co-financed through structural funds over the period 2007-2013.
