The Project
Objectives
The general objective of Mi Ciudad AC2 is to strengthen the role of local government partners in climate change adaptation and mitigation, through the development of innovative criteria for urban planning applicable both to the development of new urban areas and to the regeneration of those that already exist.
These criteria fall into four key areas of urban policy:
- Urban planning and mobility management
- Planning of green zones and natural spaces
- Energy saving and efficiency
- Public awareness and participation
The application of this criteria will contribute to the reduction of green-house gas emissions and improvements to energy efficiency in the relevant urban areas.
Intermediary objectives:
- Identify gaps and possible improvements for urban policies in the fight against climate change in each member city.
- Facilitate the climate change adaptation and mitigation by local governments in a flexible way, adapting it to the characteristics and needs of each city in the SUDOE area.
- Test the efficiency of the tools developed through the project to combat climate change and their possible application to concrete cases of development and urban regeneration.
- Guarantee that the city partners implement climate change adaptation tools prepared during the project; dissemination and transfer of results to other cities in the SUDOE area.
